The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed breakfast every morning on the roof terrace with the river view.... read more We also had most of our meals in the garden. Well equipped kitchen. We traveled to the recommended secret river swimming spot and were not disappointed. The rough track is long but it is a beautiful secluded area. The water was not too cold (mid-october)! Alcoutim is also a must. We also swam at the river beach there. The check-in/check out process was very smooth. The house might be cold in the winter. Note there are lots of stairs and no sofa, only 2 comfortable armchairs.

When the sun goes down over the mountains you feel like you are watching a scene in Africa, but then get... read more reminded you are in Portugal when looking over the beautiful surrounding roof tops and up to the castle while sitting on top of this 400 year old stone house. WOW.
The interior of the house is beautiful, too and has everything you need.
Only the backyard (which is basically also super nice and the pool very cooling) needs some minor clean-up to enjoy it to the fullest.
overall: total recommendation!

we were disappointed with the facade as it needs a good lick of paint! and the road is dug up right outide which we weren't warned about. the plunge pool was also very grubby with loads of leaves in it..not just that day's fall from the tree. its worth noting that the drive there is through extremely narrow, steep cobbled streets and its not one way!
